Patient Online - Giving you more choice in accessing GP Services

Patient Online will help you to take greater control of your health & wellbeing by increasing online access to services. If you wish to, you can now use the internet to book appointments with a GP, request repeat prescriptions for any medications you take regularly and also view your medications and allergies online. If you would like to register for Patient Online please speak to a member of our Reception Team

Electronic Prescription Service

We are about to introduce an Electronic Prescription Service.  This service will mean that we can send your prescription electronically to the Pharmacy you choose to get your medication from without the need for paper in most cases. The Electronic Prescription Service is reliable, secure and confidential.

If you would like to use the Electronic Prescription Service:

•You will need to ‘nominate’ a pharmacy to receive your prescriptions electronically. You can ask a member of staff in the pharmacy to arrange this. Practice Staff will also be able to arrange this for you after Tuesday 3rd June 2014.

•You can then continue to order your prescriptions in the usual way, but instead of a paper prescription being collected by you or your pharmacy, the prescription will be sent to them electronically.

•You should try to ensure that on most occasions you collect your prescriptions from your nominated Pharmacy. However, if you don’t wish to use your nominated Pharmacy for a particular prescription just make sure you let the surgery know when you request the prescription. For example if you wish to collect a prescription from the surgery reception, or a different pharmacy.

•Nomination is very flexible and can be cancelled at any time by asking a member of staff at the pharmacy or the surgery

Chaperones

If you feel you would like a chaperone present at your consultation then please inform your Doctor/Nurse who will be more than happy to arrange this for you.

Security Upgrades

From Monday 23rd June 2014 TPP will be making some security upgrades to SystmOnline. Most patients will not be affected by this, however patients running older versions of Windows (for example Internet Explorer on Windows XP before SP3) may experience difficulties accessing the service. Any patients experiencing issues should be advised to try a different browser or upgrade their operating system.

Appointments

blue_calendar_2011All consultations are by appointment. We offer appointments from 07:00 up to 20:00 on certain days at some of our sites.

You can book an appointment by telephone, on line or at the surgery reception.

At least half of our appointments can be booked up to one month in advance; all others become available on the morning when the surgeries open.

Appointments are for one person only and we may not be able to discuss all your problems at one consultation; a further appointment may be required and we would recommend that if possible you stay with the same doctor for that particular problem.

If you cannot attend for an appointment please let us know . Most of us, including nurses, provide telephone consultations.

When requesting an urgent appointment please remember:

  • A problem that has been present for a number of days is unlikely to be urgent.
  • You will be asked by the receptionist to give some indication of the problem.
  • You will probably have to wait as pushing you in will mean other patients with appointments will have to wait longer.
  • If your child is sent home from school it does not necessarily mean that they need to see the doctor urgently

Telephone Appointments - Advice And Information By Telephone

Our doctors are happy to speak to you on the telephone at the end of morning surgery. Please phone the surgery before 10:00 if you require a telephone appointment.  A doctor will then call you back at the earliest convenient time following their morning surgery.

Appointments For The Nurse

We operate a booked appointment system for all Clinics. When booking your appointment please let reception know what your appointment is for so that they can advise you when would be the best time for you to come and the length of appointment you require.

Emergencies

During Surgery hours an emergency is a medical problem that needs attention within 30 minutes. After hours it is a medical problem that cannot wait until the surgery opens.

Reception Staff

We have a Team of Receptionists who are your first point of contact. When telephoning for medical attention the Receptionist may ask you for a few details.  All Reception Staff are fully trained and ask for these details in order that we can help you in the most appropriate way.  Our Receptionists are very busy at certain times of the day and we ask that you be patient. The Receptionists ease the flow of patients for the Doctors, Nurses and Health Professionals and keep the Practices running smoothly.  They are here to help you.

Sometimes they may need to ask for further details.  They are not being nosey and are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the Doctors and Nurses.  All medical information, which is held on your behalf, is governed by the Data Protection Act and Staff are vigilant in ensuring that only essential information is made known to other Practice Staff.

Appointment Reminders

We now send appointment reminders to your mobiles phone via text message. We will also let you know if you have missed an appointment without cancelling. If you do not want us to send text messages to your mobile phone please speak to a member of our reception team.
